Description

Elm Lodge Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone and features a plain tile roof with stone end stacks that have square paired chimneys. The building has a T-plan layout, is two storeys tall with an attic, and has a four-window range.

The central entrance consists of a four-panel door with side and overlights, set within panelled reveals and sheltered by a shallow Gothick timber porch topped with an ogee lead roof. Flanking the door are two-light Gothick casement windows with moulded sills and surrounds, and there are similar windows above the door as well as to the left and right on the first floor. The farmhouse has a chamfered plinth with two blocked cellar windows featuring stone jambs and lintels to the left of the door, along with quoins and stone-coped gables that include kneelers.

At the rear, there is a wing that has been rebuilt in brick and extended by one bay in the late 19th century; a two-light flat-faced stone mullion window remains, providing light to the cellar. Inside, the farmhouse includes an open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer, stop-chamfered spine beams, and an open well staircase that features stick balusters, carved tread ends, a ramped and wreathed handrail, and a cast-iron standard. There is also a reset datestone inscribed 'C/PA/1682' located in an outbuilding.
