Description
Cromwell Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that was renovated in 1936. It is constructed from coursed limestone and ironstone rubble, topped with a thatch roof and featuring brick ridge and end stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, with the main range displaying three windows. The main facade facing the garden includes a glazed door to the left of center, which has a 20th-century timber lintel. To the right of the door are two 2-light casement windows, and to the left is a similar window. On the first floor, there is a small 2-light casement window above the door and a 3-light casement window to the right, all featuring timber lintels. The return wing has a 20th-century door next to the main range, also with a timber lintel, a 2-light casement window on the ground floor, a small rectangular window to the left, and another 2-light casement window on the first floor, all with timber lintels. There is a straight joint to the left of the door, marking the connection between the return wing and the main range. Inside, the cottage features chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a cambered bressumer.
