Description
Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1835 by W A Nicholson. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features slate roofs with ashlar coped gables and moulded kneelers. The building has two pairs of gable and three pairs of lateral, octagonal Tudor style brick and ashlar stacks. There is a chamfered brick and ashlar plinth and flush ashlar quoins.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has four bays. The east front has an off-centre doorway with a four-panel door set in a chamfered four-centred arch opening. To the left, there is a narrow two-storey gabled projection with a canted bay window containing two lights, followed by a gabled two-storey cross wing with a three-light window. To the right, there is another three-light window with a dripmould. Above, there is an ashlar curly gabled dormer with a two-light window under a dripmould, a similar window to the left, and another three-light window beyond that. All the windows have casements set in ashlar recessed and chamfered surrounds with mullions and transoms. This building is part of the complete estate village built by the Chaplins of Blankney Hall.
