Description
Cosi-Cot and the attached cottage are a pair of cottages built around 1835 by W A Nicholson. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and feature slate roofs with ashlar coped gables, moulded kneelers, and finials. The roofs have two rows of three ridge stacks and a single row of three lateral octagonal Tudor style white brick and ashlar stacks. The cottages have a chamfered white brick and ashlar plinth and flush ashlar quoins.
The buildings are single storey plus attic and have a symmetrical front. The central section features a pair of single-light windows with a buttress between them, flanked by single 4-centred arched, ashlar doorways with 4-panel doors. Each side has projecting gabled cross wings with single 3-light windows under dripmoulds. Above is a central oriel window that projects from a gabled through eaves dormer, supported on a bracket resting on the buttress. The upper cross wings each have a 2-light window under a dripmould. All windows are glazing bar casements set in recessed and chamfered mullion ashlar surrounds. This building is part of the complete estate village created by the Chaplin family of Blankney Hall.
