Description
This pair of estate cottages, built around 1835 by W A Nicholson, is located to the south of the Village Hall on Main Street in Blankney. The cottages are constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and feature a steeply pitched slate roof. They have a group of four octagonal Tudor style white brick and ashlar ridge stacks, along with a row of four similar lateral stacks. The cottages have a chamfered ashlar and white brick plinth and consist of three bays.
The left side has a slightly projecting gabled bay with a 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window that includes glazing bar casements. There are two similar windows to the right. Above the gable, there is another similar window set in a slightly projecting ashlar surround supported by two small brackets. These cottages are part of the complete estate village built for the Chaplin family of Blankney Hall.
