Description
Winfred and Attached Cottage is a pair of estate cottages built around 1835 by W A Nicholson. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and feature a steeply pitched slate roof. The cottages have a group of four octagonal Tudor style white brick and ashlar ridge stacks, along with a row of four similar lateral stacks. The base of the cottages has a chamfered ashlar and white brick plinth. The structure is three bays wide and consists of a single storey plus an attic. To the right, there is a slightly projecting gabled bay with a 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window that has glazing bar casements. There are two similar windows to the left. Above the gable, there is another similar window set in a slightly projecting ashlar surround supported on two small brackets. This building is part of the complete estate village built for the Chaplin family of Blankney Hall.
