Description

Court Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the mid-19th century with later alterations. It features coursed rubble construction, rendered sides and rear, and limestone dressings. The roof is slate with raised coped verges and kneelers on the front gable, along with gable stacks that have diagonal brick chimneys, while the rear is pantiled. The design is asymmetrical and reflects Tudor Gothic style. The building has two storeys, with the entrance block projecting forward to the left and a gabled wing to the right. It has a window arrangement of 1:1:1, consisting of 2 and 4-light casements with round heads on the panes. The first floor on the left has a drip mould with mask stops, while the ground floor center features a flat splayed head with a keystone. There is a central oriel window on the first floor in a plain frame supported by brackets. The ground and first floors on the right have hood moulds, and there is a quatrefoil window in the gable. The door to the left is in a chamfered Tudor arch with a drip mould, and the left block has a cornice and parapet. The east side has three windows, including two cross windows on the first floor right and center, and a double door to the left. The west side features a trefoil-head single light in a moulded surround at the ground floor. The rear has been extended to form a small courtyard, with random windows that include chamfered cross windows and 20th-century windows. Inside, there are cornices, dado rails, six-panelled doors with panelled cheeks and soffits, and a dog-leg open string stair. The farmhouse was built by the Cann-Lippincott family as a model farm after the previous farmhouse was destroyed by fire.
