ALFORD HIGH STREET (north side) Nos. 13, 14 and 14a, (The George Hotel) and shop adjoining. (formerly listed as No 13 (George Hotel) and No 14)

Public house and shop. Early C18 with C19 and C20 alterations. Colourwashed brick with pantile roof having brick coped gables and kneelers, 2 gable and single ridge stacks. L-plan. 2 storey plus attics, 8 bay front, arranged 5:3 around the corner, plinth, first floor band, dentillated eaves course. Central panelled door with overlight in C20 pedimented wooden doorcase, flanked by pairs of plain sashes and above are 5 similar windows. To right a blocked doorway and a glazed door to angle flanked by 4 light shop window with plain cornice. To first floor 2 further windows and a blocked opening. All windows have segmental heads. Above are 3 plain dormers with flat leaded roofs and planked cheeks.
