Description

This is a terrace of two shops and a house, dating from the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick in a header bond pattern, and has a mansard roof covered in slate. A single ridge stack is present. The two-storey terrace, with attic space, has an eight-bay front arranged as 2:1:2:3 bays. A rendered plinth and a band run across the first floor. An off-centre 19th-century six-panelled door, with a fanlight in a semi-circular surround, provides entry. To the left is a 20th-century shop front. To the right, two plain sash windows have plain ashlar lintels, and a 19th-century shop front features a central half-glazed panelled door, flanked by bay shop windows under a finely dentilated cornice. The first floor has a semi-circular headed margin light sash window flanked by pairs of margin light sashes, all under brick segmental heads. Beyond these, three more sash windows are present. Four dormer windows with glazing bar sashes and segmental leaded heads and cheeks are set into the roof.
