Description
Nos. 26 and 28 on Market Street in Spilsby are former houses that have been converted into two houses and a shop. They date from the 17th century and have been altered in the late 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century. The buildings are constructed of painted brick and render, with a pantile roof and plain tiles at the rear. They feature brick coped gables, a single gable, and a large square ridge stack.
The structure is two storeys high with a six-bay front, where the left end bay is slightly advanced. There is a brick band on the first floor. The entrance is an off-centre half-glazed door, which is accompanied on the left by a 19th-century shop front consisting of three narrow lights and a doorway beneath a fascia and cornice. To the right of the door, there is a glazing bar sash window with a segmental head, along with a planked door. Further right, there is a rectangular bay window and a bow window with a central door, both featuring glazing bars with Gothick heads on the lights. Additionally, there is a planked passage door to the right.
On the first floor, there is a glazing bar sash window and five 20th-century glazing bar casements. Inside, there is a beam with run-out stops.
