Description

This is a shop dating back to the 16th century, which was later refronted in the 19th century. The building is timber framed and encased in red brick with a pantile roof. It is a single storey plus attics, and two storeys, with a hipped roof. The front of the building has four bays, featuring a plinth, a corbelled band, and end pilasters. A half-glazed door has been inserted, alongside a plain sash window. To the left of the door are two further plain sash windows, all with segmental brick heads. A 19th-century projecting shop window with a fascia and cornice is situated on the right-hand side. Above, a canted bay window is present, complete with pilasters and a dentilated cornice. Inside, the front wall reveals two posts, alongside a 19th-century floor. The rear wall displays a large post with a chamfered jowel and a straight brace to the wall plate. The roof shows a visible wind brace to the larch pole rafters.
