Description

This is a terrace of three shops and houses built in the early 19th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The buildings are constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern. The original roof is hidden behind a brick ridge and end stacks.

The terrace has a double-depth plan with a six-window facade across three storeys. Modern shop fronts occupy the ground floor, although some older details remain. Each shop front features a central door, flanked by shop bay windows, and moulded cornices to a continuous fascia. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows, except for replacements at No.15. The second floor has 9-pane sashes, except for 20th-century replacements at No.15; the windows at No.14 have rendered surrounds. Four large, rendered pilaster strips are positioned on the ends and between the properties, creating a 2-2-2 bay arrangement. The pilasters at No.13 have capitals decorated with egg-and-dart ornament, supporting sections of an entablature, with the upper parts of the other two pilasters featuring octagonal vermiculated panels. A moulded, rendered cornice runs along the entire terrace, surmounted by a coped parapet concealing the roofs. The parapet at No.15 is rendered with a long vermiculated lozenge panel.
