Description
No. 18 Market Square is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and has been altered in the 20th century. The building is finished in stucco, with a roof that is concealed by a parapet. It has a double-depth plan and stands three stories tall with a three-window range.
The ground and first floors feature 12-pane sash windows with pilastered, rendered surrounds and an entablature. The ground floor windows have console brackets at either end of the sill, while the first-floor windows are topped with pediments. The central window on the second floor is a segmental 6-pane sash with moulded, rendered surrounds and cornices. The building has a rendered plinth, moulded rendered eaves cornices, and a rendered, coped parapet. The central bay of the facade projects slightly. One of the ground-floor windows, likely the one on the far left, was originally a door.
