Description

This is a milepost located on Station Road in Castle Donington, dating from the mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and painted white, featuring raised black lettering. The post has a triangular shape and is stopped below the upper panel. It is inscribed with the following information: 'CASTLE DONINGTON PARISH, TAMWORTH 23 MILES, NOTTINGHAM 12 MILES'. There is also a small oval plaque on the stop, although the lettering on it is obscured, indicating that it was made by Wootton Bros of Coalville.
