Description

Nos 7 and 9 on Moat are a pair of small houses that date back to the late 15th to 16th century, with a cruck truss located between the left bays. They were rebuilt in the early 19th century and raised in the 19th to 20th centuries. The houses are constructed of brick, which is colourwashed at the front, featuring a rendered stone plinth and rendered gable ends. The roof is tiled from the 20th century and has partly rendered brick chimneys, with two located at the center and one on the right.

The buildings are two storeys high and consist of four bays. The left bay has a 20th-century two-light wooden casement window on the ground floor, while the other bays feature two-light horizontal sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor windows have rendered wedge lintels with keyblocks, and the upper windows show traces of former thatch eyebrows. There is a board door between the left bays and a four-panelled door to the right, both of which are sheltered by gabled wooden porches. An exposed timber post is visible at the center of the rear wall.

Inside, the left bay contains old rough floor beams, and the other bays have spine beams, with the one in the second bay being cambered and chamfered. The cruck truss retains its collar and tie beam.
