Description

This is a milepost located between numbers 23 and 33 on High Street in Castle Donington, dating from the mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and painted white, featuring raised black lettering. The post has a triangular shape and is stopped below the upper panel. It is inscribed with the following information: 'CASTLE DONINGTON PARISH, TAMWORTH 22 MILES, NOTTINGHAM 13 MILES'. Additionally, there is a small oval plaque on the stop that reads: 'WOOTTON BROS, IRON WORKS, COALVILLE'.
