Description
No 34 on High Street is a small house that was formerly a lodge to No 36, The Cedar. It dates from the early 19th century and has a 20th-century extension. The building features whitewashed render and a slate roof, with flanking rendered chimneys, and is designed in the Gothick style. It has two storeys and two narrow bays. The ground floor includes a chamfered plinth and slightly moulded eaves with a central moulded projection. There is an arcade of three slightly recessed semi-circular arches on the ground floor, each with small fluted keyblocks. The outer arches contain two-light arched windows with wooden Y-tracery and glazing bars. The first floor has a similar window in a wide recessed lunette, which features a larger keyblock. There is also a central false door that is flush-panelled, with a small triangular fanlight and a later wooden architrave frame. At the rear, there is a 20th-century extension made of timber and supported on posts.
