Description
The walls, railings, and gates in front of number 70 on High Street in Castle Donington date from around 1830 to 1840. They feature brick dwarf walls topped with stone coping. The cast iron railings alternate between fleur-de-lys and sword-handle finials, with the main uprights being reeded and topped with pine-cone finials. There is a similar pair of gates in the center that ramp down to a central lotus finial. The gates also include lower rails adorned with roundels and fleur-de-lys finials. These features are included for their group value.
