Description
House. Dating to the late 18th century, it incorporates elements of earlier 17th-century buildings. It was extended in the mid-19th century and again in the late 19th and 20th centuries to the right. The house was refurbished in 1984. It is constructed of red brick on a stone plinth, with a tiled roof and a central rendered chimney. The house has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, with two bays. Narrow brick band courses are visible at the first and second floor levels. The windows are 2-light horizontal sash windows with glazing bars; those in the right bay were replaced in 1984, and all have segmental heads. A cellar opening is located on the left side. A 2-panelled door is positioned to the right of centre, approached by four curved stone steps, beneath a high segmental arch and a 20th-century segmental wooden hood on brackets. There are 2-light attic casements in the gables. At the right end is a lower 19th-century bay with a late 19th and 20th-century half-timbered gabled projection to the front, which was formerly a dairy. This projection features a flush-panelled door and a 20th-century single light in the left return, with a horizontal sash and vents in the gable end. The rear of the building has a single 17th- to 18th-century 3-light window with wooden mullions. Inside the right bay of the older section of the house, there is a stop-chamfered spine beam with run-out stops and a fireplace lintel. A winder stair runs in line with the chimney. The interior also contains old 2-panel and board doors.
