Description
No. 71 High Street is a house built in the 1770s, with an early 20th-century extension on the left. The building is constructed of red brick and features dentil eaves, a hipped plain tile roof, and a brick chimney on the left side. It stands three storeys tall and has three bays. The windows are three-pane sashes, square on the second floor, all with painted stone sills, shaped wedge lintels, and keyblocks. The ground floor has been altered and now includes later canted wooden bay windows. The original central door is a six-panelled design with ornamental radiating iron glazing bars in a semi-circular fanlight above. The wooden doorcase has an open pediment supported by blocks with sun motifs. There is also a Phoenix fire insurance plaque. The early 20th-century extension is made of brick with stone window dressings and features tripartite sashes above garage doors.
