Description
No 24 is a house located on High Street, dating from the 17th century. It was refronted in the early 19th century and refurbished in the 20th century. The rear wall is timber framed with whitewashed brick and plaster infill, while the rest of the building is rebuilt in brick. The left gable is whitewashed and features painted fake timbers, with only the tie-beam and truss being original. The house has a 20th-century tile roof and a brick chimney situated between the left bays. It is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows are three-light wooden casements with horizontal glazing bars, which were renewed in the 20th century but still have flat brick arches. There is a 20th-century door with a gabled timber porch located between the right bays. The rear of the house has a slightly projecting gable to the left, which has mostly been rebuilt in the 20th century, but may include remnants of an earlier cross wing. The interior is reported to lack any original features. This building is included for its group value.
