Description

This is a milepost located on Ashby Road in Breedon-on-the-Hill, dating from the mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and painted white, featuring raised black lettering. The post has a triangular shape and is stopped below the upper panel. It is inscribed with the following information: 'BREEDON ON THE HILL PARISH, TAMWORTH 18 MILES, NOTTINGHAM 17 MILES'. Additionally, there is a small oval plaque on the stop that reads: 'WOOTTON BROS, IRON WORKS, COALVILLE'.
