Description

A coach house and stable range, dating to the mid-to-late 18th century with a raised section from the 19th century and a rebuilt left gable in the 20th century. The building was converted to flats in 1986. It is constructed of red and buff brick with an ashlar plinth, a 20th-century plain tile roof, and a brick chimney to the left of centre. The range is long and two stories high. The left side features two coach house bays with double doors, which have bonded stone jambs and segmental brick arches. The left-hand doors are smaller and have a four-pane sash window above. A square, moulded stone tablet inscribed 'John Curzon, Anne Dorn 1690' is set below the eaves between the bays, and was re-sited. To the right are four window openings and three doorways. One window has a four-pane sash; the others currently have 20th-century glazing. Two doorways have board doors with barred rectangular fanlights; one doorway is empty. Three square loft openings are visible, the left one with a board door, and the two to the right with four-pane sashes. A 20th-century four-bay garage extension is located at the left end. The building is included for group value with Breedon Hall.
