Description
Avenue House is a house located in Long Clawson, dating from the mid to late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick in stretcher bond and features a plain-tile roof with brick end stacks. The house has a two-unit, central staircase plan and is two stories high with a three-window range. The main front faces the garden and includes a central 19th-century brick porch that has a six-panel door, a fanlight, sunk spandrel panels, and a moulded limestone cornice along with a blocking cornice. The ground and first floors have 16-pane sash windows with segmental-arched heads. The gables are brick-coped. To the left, there is a two-storey extension that has three-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors with flat-arched heads. A curved wall on the right conceals a lean-to extension. The interior has not been inspected.
