Description
Chalk House is a house dating from the early 18th century, with 19th and 20th century extensions at the rear. It is constructed of red brick, featuring grey headers in the centre bay of the ground floor, and has a hipped plain tile roof with brick end stacks. The layout is likely a two-unit plan, comprising a basement, a single storey, and an attic. The façade has a five-window range, with a flight of stone steps leading to a central part-glazed six-panel door topped by a flat hood. The basement has six-pane sash windows, while the ground floor features a brick flat band separating it from the basement and twelve-pane sash windows. A shaped brick cornice adorns the ground floor, and there is a parapet at the attic level, which includes a false round window at the centre with a carved panel beneath it, along with false six-pane windows on either side. The interior has not been inspected. There are likely contemporary wings on the left and right, each with a single eight-pane sash window at the ends.
