Description
Rushland Cottage is a house located on the north side of Church Lane and Harby in Long Clawson. It dates from the early to mid-18th century and has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish garden wall bond and features a ridged tile roof with brick ridge and end stacks.
The cottage has a three-unit plan and is two stories high, with a three-window range. There is a four-panel door to the right of center, which has a segmental-arched head and is approached by three limestone steps. The door is flanked by limestone foot-scaping niches. The ground floor has three-light casement windows, with segmental-arched heads on the ground floor and wooden lintels on the first floor. The ground floor also includes some coursed squared ironstone masonry. At the rear right, there is a two-story wing. Inside, the cottage features stop-chamfered spine beams.
