Description

Holly House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations and an extension added in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick in an English garden wall bond, with orange rubbed brick dressings and a pantile roof. The house has a central-staircase plan, approximately one and a half rooms deep, with extensions to the left and rear. The front facade is two storeys high and has three windows. There is a two-storey lean-to extension to the left. A central 20th-century glazed door is set beneath an overlight. Throughout the house are eight-pane sash windows with brick sills. Each window opening has a flat arch with a painted keystone. A stepped and dentilled eaves course runs along the top of the building, and the gables have coping stones and shaped kneelers. Chimneys are located at the ends of the building. The extensions to the left and rear are not of particular architectural interest.
