Description

Manor Farmhouse is a house dating from the later 18th century. It is located on the west side of Carlton Road in Shackerstone, Barton in the Beans. The house is constructed of red brick with a slate roof, hipped to the right, and brick ridge and end stacks. It has an L-shaped plan. The house is three storeys high, with a first-floor band and a moulded brick eaves cornice, and reduced proportions to the second floor. The front elevation has a regular four-bay arrangement with casement windows and segmental arches, featuring raised key blocks. One first-floor window, located to the right of the centre, is blind and narrower than the others. A five-panel door with a rectangular overlight sits beneath it, protected by a 20th-century gabled timber porch. A rear wing extends to the right. The front room on the left side of the house contains pine dado panelling, and a fireplace with a pine bolection moulded surround.
