Description

This is a milepost from the early 19th century, made of cast iron. It features a circular iron post with a single band and a moulded domed top. Attached to the post is a curved cast iron plate that is inscribed with the distances to Burton (17 miles), Measham (6 miles), and Bosworth (1 mile). The milepost is located just south of the boundary between the parishes of Market Bosworth and Carlton.
