Description
Stone House Farmhouse and Cheese Barn Cottage is a building that has been converted into two dwellings. The original structure dates back to the late 17th century, with extensions made in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, with brick extensions, and features a plain tiled roof. The building has ridge stacks with twin diagonal flues.
The older section, located on the right, is two storeys high and follows a two-unit plan. It has a central door set within a stone chamfered architrave, flanked by three-light wood mullioned and transomed windows, also in stone architraves. To the left of the door, there is a fire window with a chamfered stone architrave. Above, there are thirty-two light casements.
Beyond the older section, two bays have been added, which include two-light casement windows and a central doorway leading to No. 26, known as Cheese Barn Cottage. The archway section to the left has been remodelled in the late 20th century. The adjoining house on the far left, No. 28 (The Old Barn), is not of special architectural interest and is not included in this listing.
