Description
The Cottage is a building that may have originally been three separate dwellings. It has a core dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century and features rough cast render over a timber frame. The roof is made of Welsh slate and includes cresting, with the gable facing the street. The structure is two storeys high and currently has a three-unit plan, with one bay to the right of the door. The windows are mostly from the 20th century, including a squared bay window on the right and a slightly projecting five-light window at the left end of the elevation. There is also a French window and a three-light casement window in the middle bay. On the upper floor, there are three casement windows and a dormer with a glazed gablet. The building features a gable end and one axial stack that projects through the slope of the roof rather than from the ridge. Part of the roof truss is visible in the right-hand gable wall. Inside, much of the timberwork remains intact, with beamed ceilings on the ground floor, a chamfered spine beam in the central bay, and timbered partition walls. The wall plate, main trusses, and partitions are visible upstairs.
