Description

The ice house is a structure from the late 18th century or early 19th century, built of brick. Externally, it has a domed shape with a short vaulted entrance tunnel. Inside, there is a deep well below ground level, creating an egg-shaped structure with a diameter of 15 feet. The construction features double-brick, with the exterior dome lined in rat-trap bond brickwork. The inner end of the entrance tunnel is rebated to accommodate a doorway with a high step. There is a small opening at the top of the dome, likely used for placing ice into the pit.
