Description

Goscote Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge, likely associated with Goscote Hall. It is constructed of coursed rusticated granite rubble with a Swithland slate roof and built in a picturesque Gothic style. The lodge is single-storied. The front elevation features a small, coped gabled porch with a four-centred archway, accompanied by hoodmoulds on each side, incorporating Tudor roses within the spandrels. Above the arch is a panel decorated with trefoils and the inscription "Vive Vivatque." The inner doorway is also a four-centred arch. To the left of the entrance are two two-light stone mullioned windows with arched lights under squared hoodmoulds. A single window is set within the gable wall, with a blank shield positioned above. The Loughborough Road elevation displays a gable to the left, featuring a canted bay window with mullioned lights and a blank traceried parapet. Above the bay window is a single square light with an ornate foiled pattern. A recessed right-hand bay contains a single two-light mullioned window with arched lights under a squared hoodmould. Wood bargeboards display vine scroll decoration, and the lodge is topped with finials. A large central stack is present, adorned with three shafts, each uniquely and ornately decorated with snakes and fish scales.
