Description
The Mobil forecourt canopies are petrol filling station canopies constructed in 1979, designed in the style of the 1960s by Eliot Noyes, who lived from 1910 to 1977. The canopies feature steel posts and frames, consisting of six separate, overlapping circular units supported by tall plain posts. Each circular shape is created by twenty-eight radiating segments that converge on a ring at the post. The canopy units are white, edged with a red and white strip that displays the word 'ESSO', which appears to be painted on. Beneath each canopy unit, there are rectangular metal boxes attached to the posts, likely containing up-lighters. The petrol pumps located under the canopy and the nearby forecourt building are not included in this designation.
