Description
No. 23 Wymeswold Road is a house dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It has four bays and features brickwork, with timber framing on the left-hand unit. The roof is made of Swithland slate and the building is low at two storeys throughout. The left-hand unit displays square panelled framing with continuous vertical posts, arch braces, and a sill beam raised on a stone plinth. Two wall plates are visible, with the upper one indicating a heightening of the roof. The brick infill includes some Measham gobs at eaves level. This unit has two casement windows and two horizontal sliding sashes. The middle part of the house consists of two units with a central door and three-light casements on the ground floor, with horizontal sashes above. The right-hand unit, which is a single bay, appears to be a later addition constructed in different brickwork.
