Description

No. 12 Loughborough Road is a house built in 1810. It is constructed of brick and features a low-pitched hipped slate roof. The building has two storeys and a symmetrical facade with three bays. The central doorway is flanked by fluted pilasters and topped with a steep open pediment, a fanlight, and a six-panelled door. On the ground floor, there are two canted bay windows with moulded jambs and deep architraves. The upper windows are four-light sashes with flat gauged brick heads. A wooden eaves cornice runs along the top. An inscribed stone in the gable reads "W. Gill, 1810". The Gill family is noted in 19th-century directories as farmers and graziers.
