Description
Hoton House is a house from the late 18th century, possibly with an earlier core. It features Flemish bond brickwork and has three storeys with a symmetrical facade of three bays. The central doorway has a renewed case, a six-panel door, and an intricate traceried overlight. The building includes nine-light sash windows, with six-light windows on the upper storey, all having gauged brick heads and stone sills. There is an eaves cornice with minimal modillions and a continuous outshut at the back. The rear wing on the left has a stone plinth, a stone coped gable, and brick sill courses. This wing appears to be older than the main facade and consists of two different builds, indicating that the house may have been refronted and possibly reoriented.
