Description
No. 230 on Forest Road is a house built in 1855. It is constructed from slate rubble stone with buff brick dressings and features a Swithland slate roof adorned with various ornamental buff brick stacks in an Elizabethan style. The building has an irregular gabled design and consists of one and a half storeys with leaded light casement windows.
On the right gable, there is a three-light window that includes a diamond pane of blue glass engraved with crests and the year 1855. The entrance door, which has a gabled canopy, is located next to this window, followed by two two-light half dormers above. A canted bay window with a two-light window above is also present in the gable.
On the left end of the house, there is another three-light window featuring a similar dated pane, along with two two-light windows above. The right end includes a one-light window and a two-light window, situated beside a projecting stack. There is also a twelve-pane window in a projecting gable return, with a two-light window in the gable itself.
At the rear, there is a one-storey extension, and to the left side, there is a one-storey outbuilding that has a similar stack. This property was formerly part of the Beaumanor estate Home Farm.
