Description
No. 244 on Forest Road is a cottage dating from the late 15th or 16th century, which was remodeled in the 18th century. The building is constructed of rendered brick and rubble stone, featuring timber framing and a Swithland slate roof with a central ridge and stacks at the left end. It has one and a half storeys and includes casement windows. From the left, there is a two-light sliding sash window, a two-light window, and a partly glazed door with a canopy. There are also two three-light, centre-opening leaded light dormers above. The door, casements, dormer, and an outshut are located at the rear. Inside, the cottage reveals two pairs of cruck blades, two inglenooks, and chamfered beams, including one that is moulded, along with possibly 16th-century window frames.
