Description
No. 90 on Lower North Road is a cottage that dates from the late 15th century or early 16th century, with a rebuild that occurred in the late 17th century or early 18th century. The cottage is timber-framed and plastered, featuring a cedar wood shingled roof that is half hipped to the right side, which was originally thatched. It has two rectangular ridge stacks and an end stack on the right side with offsets. The building has one storey and an attic, with five ground floor windows of various sizes, one of which blocks a doorway. The main entrance is a 20th-century addition located in a rear extension. There are three dormer windows with casements and sloping roofs. Inside, there is a hearth with a reused hollow-chamfered mantel beam that has some painted decoration, and a post with similar detailing. The interior also features exposed timber framing, rafters, and chamfered floor beams, although the interior plan has been altered.
