Description

This is a 17th-century house and shop, later altered in the early 19th century and subsequently. It is now a house. The building is constructed of red brick with burnt brick headers, and has a plain tiled roof with a central ridge stack. It is two storeys high, with later brick gable lean-tos on either side. A 20th-century six-panelled glazed door, with a flat canopy supported by shaped brackets, now occupies the position of two original doorways, which were originally accessed by cambered brick arches. A large fixed-light transomed shop window is present, topped with a wooden cornice. A three-light casement window sits to the left, and two similar windows are on the first floor. A lean-to on the right-hand side interrupts an earlier garden boundary wall featuring diaper pattern work. Inside, there is some exposed 17th-century timber framing.
