Description
This cottage, located at 229 Forest Road, dates from around 1800. It is constructed of whitewashed brick and has a Swithland slate roof. The building features a side stack on the return of the gable, which projects forward on the left side. It is 1½ storeys tall and has casement windows.
In the gable, there is a door with an overlight and a gabled canopy. To the right of this, there is a small 20th-century canted bay window and a 2-light casement window above. In the recessed section to the right, there is another door with an overlight, a 2-light window to the left, a 1-light window to the right, and a 2-light half dormer above. Additionally, there is a 6/6 sash window, a 3/6 sash window, and a 1-light casement window at the rear.
This cottage is included for its group value with the adjacent property at No. 227, known as The Holt.
