Description
74 High Street is a cottage, likely once two separate cottages that have been combined into a single dwelling. It dates from the early 19th century but was probably altered in the early 20th century when the adjoining cottage, No 73, was rebuilt. The exterior is whitewashed and rendered, topped with a slate roof that has gabled ends, and features brick stacks at the gable ends.
The building is two storeys tall with an asymmetrical front that has two windows. It has modern 12-pane sash windows with horns, and the sash boxes are exposed with moulded surrounds. The door opening is nearly central and features a modern half-glazed door with a slated pent-hood supported by wooden brackets. To the left, there is a blocked area that indicates a former door opening, with a modern two-light casement window inserted. The right side of the building is blank. The rear elevation has two two-light casements with glazing bars, and there is a large lean-to with a slate roof, along with two additional two-light casements.
The interior has not been inspected.
