Description
Longdale Cottage is a cottage dating from around 1800. It is constructed from granite and slate rubble stone, featuring red brick dressings and eaves, and has a Swithland slate roof with rebuilt end stacks. Both ends of the cottage are rendered. The building has two storeys with three horizontal sliding sash windows, which have cambered lintels on the ground floor and small panes. The arrangement of windows from left to right includes a three-light window on both floors, a fixed two-light window with a two-light window above, and a four-panelled door with a gabled canopy above, followed by another three-light window on both floors. There is a one-light casement window on both floors at the left end, and a one-storey outhouse extends from the right end, which features a door and a pair of carriage doors. An outshut is located at the rear. The cottage has group value with the boundary stones of the former parish of Longdale.
