Description
The Brand Cottage at The Brand is a cottage built around 1875, likely designed by Alfred Waterhouse for Arthur Ellis. It is constructed from granite and slate rubble stone, featuring dark brown brick dressings and a plain tile roof with a central ridge and rear side stacks. The gables are adorned with decorated barge boards, and the windows have cambered lintels. The cottage is two storeys high, with a central gable that includes a porch and a two-light window on the left and above. To the left on the ground floor, there is another two-light window, while the right end features a canted bay with a two-light window above. On the first floor, there is a smaller one-light window set back, along with a door and additional windows at the rear. The cottage has group value with the stable block and pigsty at The Brand.
