Description
The Holt is a house dating from the 18th century and early 19th century, located on Woodhouse Forest Road. It features rendered and whitewashed brick, with a double band, and a hipped twin span roof made of Swithland slate, complete with ridge and end stacks. The building has two storeys and includes four 2-light casement windows with cambered lintels.
On the ground floor, from the left, there is a small 20th-century canted bay window, a 3-light casement window, a gabled porch with a door and overlight, another 2-light casement window, and a small 20th-century canted bay with a 2-light dormer above. The left end has various doors and casements due to an extension. The right end adjoins No. 229, which is listed separately.
Inside, there are two 6-panelled doors. The principal front has a slightly projecting central section with a pediment. A stone step leads to a wooden doorcase featuring a broken pediment, a pair of glazed doors, and a fanlight above. There is a 6/6 sash window above and dentilled eaves beneath the pediment. To the right, there are two 6/6 sash windows on both floors, and to the left, there is a large 2-storey 19th-century canted bay window. Two steps lead to central French windows, with 1/1 sash windows elsewhere. The building was formerly known as Woodhouse Vicarage.
