Description
No. 41 on West Street is a house that dates from the early 18th century, with later modifications in the late 18th century and mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick, with some areas rendered, and features pantile roofs with decorative eaves and gable stacks. The building is two stories high and has a four-bay front that was refronted in the late 18th century.
The central doorway is adorned with a pediment, consoles, and a moulded doorcase, and it includes an overlight with a segmental head and a partially glazed door. On either side of the doorway, there are narrow plain sash windows with segmental heads, as well as large canted bay windows that feature glazing bar sashes, mock shutters, and entablatures. Above, there are four glazing bar sash windows with segmental heads. To the left, there is a low late 18th-century addition that contains a small sliding sash window with a segmental head, set in the gable. Additionally, there is a low wall attached to the left side of the building.
