Description

The Crown Public House is an early 18th-century public house with early 19th-century alterations, situated on the north side of West Street in Horncastle. The building is constructed of red brick, with areas of colourwash and colourwashed render. It has a slate roof with a projecting gable stack on the right return and a gable stack and a low, tumbled gable of an early 18th-century cottage on the left return. The two-storey, three-bay front features a central doorway with a segmental head and a partially glazed door. Single tripartite glazing bar sash windows are located on either side of the doorway. Above, three glazing bar sash windows are visible, the window above the door being narrower, all with segmental heads. The building is included on the list solely for group value.
