Description
Nos. 9 and 11 on West Street are two shops that have been combined into a single shop. They date from the early 18th century to the early 19th century, with some elements from the 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick, with some areas covered in colourwash, and features a steeply pitched pantile roof with gable stacks. It has two storeys and an attic, with a four-bay front that includes a first-floor band.
To the left, there is a three-quarter glazed, blocked doorway, and to the right, a deep-set doorway with a plain moulded doorcase and a partially glazed door. On the left side, there is a canted early 19th-century bay window that has a central fixed cross mullion window flanked by single narrow lights with transoms. To the right is a late 18th-century slightly bowed shop window that features glazing bars. Above, there are two glazing bar sash windows, both with segmental heads. The building also has two small flat-headed dormers above, each containing two-light casements.
