Description
No. 7 West Street is a shop building dating from the late 18th century to the mid-19th century, with possible refronting of earlier fabric. It is constructed of red brick with painted stucco dressings and features a slate roof with stone coped gables, moulded eaves, and gable stacks. The building is two storeys high with a three-bay front that includes a first-floor brick band.
The central doorway is adorned with reeded pilasters, consoles, and a cornice, and has a traceried overlight above a glazed door. Flanking the doorway are two slightly bowed windows, each containing three long lights, also featuring reeded pilasters and an entablature. To the right, there is a narrow doorway leading to a through passage, which has a stucco wedge lintel with a raised fluted keystone and voussoirs. Above, there are two glazing bar sashes flanking a blind opening, all three of which have stucco wedge lintels with raised fluted keystones and voussoirs.
